Los Angeles Remembers 4/29/1992

Fellow citizens from all over Los Angeles remember the events of 4/29/1992 at several city-wide locations. 

It has been 25 years since the city of Los Angeles exploded in rage after the not-guilty verdicts of the LAPD officers who beat Rodney King. Much has changed since then, and some things have remained frozen in time from that day. 

A whole new generation of people have grown up since then, hopefully we all can all just get along.

No Justice No Peace 2017

A photo I took back during the Los Angeles riots of 1992 now hangs on a banner fairly close to the place I snapped the image.
The image is of a young kid standing in front of a burned down building on W. Adams Blvd. in South Los Angeles. The banner is for an exhibit at the California African American Museum in Los Angeles titled "No Justice No Peace LA 1992."
I have some images featured in the exhibition.

Thousands of Southern Californians took to the downtown streets of Los Angeles to march against the election of Donald Trump as president of the U.S.
Hillary Clinton won the state of California by a wide margin over Donald Trump.

24 Years Ago in LA

Twenty-four years ago today, Los Angeles burned in rage in response to the not-guilty verdicts in the brutal beating case of Rodney King by four LAPD officers a year earlier.
Hundreds of LA businesses burned and were looted, fifty-five people were also killed in the three day period beginning on April 29, 1992.

Four Years Ago in LA

Four years ago, Occupy LA set up camp at city hall.
Then city councilman Eric Garcetti welcomed them to stay as long as they like and that the city will support the cause.
Two months later, hundreds of LAPD would forcible remove the occupiers from the city hall grounds.

The crew from the Delta jet A330 emailed me a photo from their POV in the air. Turns out they were shooting some footage for a commercial. They almost broke LA's internet too, lots of folks tweeting and talking about it on social media.

Saw two jets flying in close formation over the early evening skies of Los Angeles. Think Delta airlines was shooting a commercial with one of their new jets. They circled over LA a couple of times. Lot's of fellow Angelenos watched and texted about it.

The annual monsoonal flow of clouds and rain hit the high desert areas of Southern California.
We rarely get the rain fall in the city, but we always get see to see the amazing clouds that form over the mountains.

Hundreds of pro and anti Donald Trump supporters held a noisy rally outside the Luxe Hotel on Sunset Blvd. this afternoon. Trump was expected to meet with LA area republicans inside the hotel.

A pair of coyotes, got my camera out when I saw the second one, were strolling about in Griffith Park near the Greek Theatre yesterday.
Griffith Park is home to lots of apex predators including "P-22," a California Mountain Lion.

Crucifixion of Christ in Los Angeles

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles re-enacted the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on the street of downtown Los Angeles.
Today is good Good Friday, marking the day Jesus was crucified.
Hundred of onlookers watched the re-enactment which was held in Spanish.
