LA Death Star
The Renzo Piano Building is under construction at Fairfax near Wilshire Blvd. It will house a new theatre for the Academy of Motion Picture and Sciences Complex at that location. The new building resembles a "Death Star" from the film Star Wars, not sure how intentional that was.
Will be a truly fascinating structure when completed, hopefully Darth will be pleased.

Take A Knee
Demonstrators hold a "take a knee" and hold a "die in" at Donald Trump's star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. The "die in" was a protest against war with North Korea and the "take a knee" was in support of athletes right to free speech.

Donald Trump's Star
Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was vandalized early in the morning. The vandal video taped himself prying out Donald's name and TV emblem from the star. The tape was sent to TMZ for broadcast. The star was quickly repaired by Walk of Fame employees later in the day.

Hollywood Remembers Leonard Nimoy
Flowers were placed at Leonard Nimoy's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today.
Leonard Nimoy passed away earlier today from complications due to COPD.
He tweeted his fans a last message last night that read "A life is like a garden, Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP"

Hollyhock House Opens to the Public
The Hollyhock House designed by famed American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and built by his son Lloyd Wright and Rudolph Schindler back in 1922, opened to the public today. The house will be free of charge and open for 24 hours today only to all visitors. After today regular hours and a charge of $7 dollars will apply.
The house underwent 3 years of extensive restoration and is in pristine condition.
I highly recommend seeing this house, it is a true jewel of Los Angeles.

The Louis Vuitton Series 2 collection and exhibition at 1135 N.Highland Ave in Hollywood.
The exhibition which features the Series 2 collection conceived by Women’s Artistic Director, Nicolas Ghesquière, runs through February 6-22, 2015.

LAPD Funeral Procession for Officer Cortijo
A funeral procession for fallen LAPD motorcycle officer Chris Cortijo.
Officer Cortijo, a 26 year veteran of LAPD, worked out of Valley Traffic and was a DUI specialist with over 3000 DUI arrest credited to him. He was also named Officer of the Year twice.
Officer Cortijo was killed while waiting for a traffic light by a vehicle driven by an alleged intoxicated driver, at Lankershim and Saticoy on April 5, 2014.
Hundreds of police motorcycles, from agencies all over the state, led the procession through downtown LA and up the Hollywood freeway to Forest Lawn.

Murphy Ranch
Visited Murphy Ranch in the hills directly above Los Angeles today.
The ranch was originally built to be the home and new US capitol of nazi power for Adolph Hitler, if WW2 was won by nazi Germany.
US nazi sympathizers living in Hollywood built the ranch which had 22 bedrooms, a vegetable garden, diesel power plant, a giant water tank, and bomb shelter.
The ranch was raided by US federal authorities shortly after Pearl Harbor was bombed, the 50 residents were arrested.
Murphy Ranch was briefly turned in to a artist colony and once home to novelist Henry Miller.
Most of the abandoned ranch is rusting away and falling apart. The buildings are covered with graffiti and the grounds are littered with trash. The State Parks system has plans to bulldoze the remaining structures and make the area in to a picnic space.
April 20, 2014 also marks the 125 birthdate of Adolph Hitler.

Northridge Quake Final
Found this last image from the Northridge quake of '94. Was looking for quake damage photos in Hollywood and came across a giant mural, Legends of Hollywood, that slid off the wall and on to the sidewalk. The face of Hollywood star Bette Davis was almost intact, it was missing an eye due to a homeless youth trying to remove it from the plaster. He told me he wanted "Bette Davis Eyes." The youth removed the eye and quickly dropped it. He started to remove the other eye, but I made him stop so I could take the image of her face.
