Riding the Bu

The last remnants of hurricane Marie, now down graded to a tropical storm, hit Malibu's Surfrider beach today. Some rides lasted over 500 yards, and 10 foot waves were breaking at Third Point in to the late afternoon.
A couple of daring souls shot the pier, dodging dangling pier pylons from the damaged Malibu Pier loosened by the giant waves.

More crowded than the 405.

Working it.

Just shot the pier!

Last ride at Topanga.

Battle For Malibu Lagoon

Took this photo of a snowy white egret, hunting in the Malibu lagoon, for a story on the lagoon that appears in this week's issue of the LA Weekly.
"The Battle for Malibu Lagoon" is written by Hillel Aron, and is about the controversy on wether or not to drain and re-make the lagoon.

Farmer's Insurance TV Commercial

Farmer's Insurance Company ran a television commercial, "They Were There, People" featuring my photo of a LA County firecopter doing a water drop on a wild fire in Malibu. The commercial "recognizes extraordinary efforts of remarkable individuals", people who fought the California wild fires of 2007.
