65th Remembrance Day At the Museum Of Tolerance





Los Angeles area Holocaust Survivors were honored as heroes at the Museum of Tolerance today. 65 years ago many of the Survivors were imprisoned in Poland at the Auschwitz concentration camp.
Survivors Karl Littner and Jack Lewin spoke of their ordeals and personal reflections of life, death, and liberation at Auschwitz.
Photographer and friend Marissa Roth had her photographic exhibit "Witness to Truth" dedicated as a permanent installation in the main hall of the Museum.
The exhibit features 61 black and white photographs of Holocaust Survivors photographed and hand printed by Marissa.

The Actor is Cast







The SAG Award statue, the Actor, was cast in bronze today at the American Fines Arts Foundry in Burbank today. Each16 inch tall hand made statue weights 12 pounds and is made of solid bronze.
The Actor statue was sculpted by Edward Saenz and designed by Jim Heimann and Jim Barrett.
The statuettes will be handed out at this years 16 annual SAG Awards show this Saturday, Jan 23, 2010.

LA Post Lowest Crime Rate In 50 Years




LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck, announce Los Angeles posted it's lowest crime rate in 50 years for the year 2009. Violent crimes including rape, robbery, murder, and burglary all reported lower numbers according to LAPD COMPSTAT.
Property crimes rates also reported low numbers, despite a downturn in the economy, which breaks traditional trends in crime.
