LA River Water Falls
Photographed some waterfalls in the LA River today caused by the latest rain storm.
Used my old Canon Mark 2 camera with a $50 dollar zoom lens, they are used mostly to cover wild fires. Leaning up against the fencing along the river, I was able to shoot long 1/2 second exposures of water falling in to the LA River. The long exposures accentuated the blue in the sky on the normally brownish river water. Some of the colors in the water came out supernatural and creamy looking.

California Poppy Bloom
The Golden Poppy, California's State Flower, begins to bloom.
The California State Park, Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve, is at around 75% of peak blooming. Late winter rains didn't help this year's poppy bloom much, which is considered moderate, because they usually need a November rain event to properly germinate. The upside is that there will be a significant wild flower bloom at the State Park and generally all over the Southern California deserts. Those blooms will start arriving next week and last in to late April. Lots of little creatures at the parks to check out as well.

Vasquez Canyon Landslide
A landslide on Vasquez Canyon Road in Santa Clarita, CA is still moving. The area was soaked by heavy rains last month which have now caused a small hill to begin to move on to the roadway.
El niƱo rains are expected to bring more heavy rains soon to Southern California. Should be an interesting winter ahead.

Camarillo Springs Mudslide
A large mud and debris slid buried several homes in the community of Camarillo Springs earlier today. Heavy rains quickly soaked the fire denuded hill sides causing the huge slide.

Muddy Waters
This is what a gazillion gallons of muddy rain water looks like. Took this image with my Nikon Coolpix set on panoramic mode, at the Los Feliz Blvd. bridge over crossing the L.A. River.
