Good Bye L.A. CityBeat, You Will Be Missed

LA CityBeat newspaper closed down operations with it's last issue published last Thursday. Was honored to be a contributer to the publication since their launch. Worked with several amazing editors, writers, and designers there, and made some life long friends.
LA CityBeat will not fade in my memory.

Saw this vintage three wheeled electric car sitting on jacks in front of a home in the upscaled area of Silverlake this morning. Wondering if this is how Silverlake does WT?
The electric car was made by Electra Car of Long Beach, CA.

Earth Hour In Los Angeles

The third annual Earth Hour reached L.A this evening. Landmarks in Los Angeles and around the world went dark at 8:30 to 9:30 pm. Restaurants and other businesses turned off their electricity to shed light on alternative energy, and to promote energy saving.
Los Angeles was the last major city in the world to observe Earth Hour.

Thousands of "Rape Kits" Sit In LAPD Deep Freeze

Thousands of envelopes of containing DNA, blood, and other evidence collected from rape victims sit in LAPD deep freeze lockers untested.
The envelopes, often referred to as "rape kits" by law enforcement, continue to pile up at the LAPD Piper Tech facility in downtown L.A.
Staff and budget cutbacks have left many of the kits untested for years. Some critics say the backlog will never get caught up.

The President went on to Burbank to appear on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno," then headed back to Washington D.C.
This was the President's first visit to Los Angeles since being elected to office.

President Barack Obama in the OC

President Barack Obama held a town hall meeting in Costa Mesa, CA at the Orange County Fair Grounds. The President answered unscripted questions from the crowd, and spoke on issues ranging from the AIG bonuses to the local California economy. The OC crowd greeted the President with warm chants of "O-BAMA, O-BAMA!."
After his speech, the President removed his jacket and rolled up his sleeves to host the town hall meeting.
This was the President's first post election visit to California, and he will be a guest on the "Tonight Show With Jay Leno" tomorrow afternoon.
