Marciano Art Foundation Now Open

The Marciano Art Foundation Gallery is now open to the public.
Visited the museum today, it was quite amazing.
Sign up online and bring your walking shoes, this museum is huge and there is plenty to see.
Hopefully the cafe will open soon.

Final Touches at the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple

Finishing touches going on at the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple on Wilshire Blvd.
The Guess Brothers, Maurice and Paul Marciano, are converting the temple in to a giant private art museum. It will house the Marciano art collection and feature local area artist.
The historic temple was designed by Millard Sheets.

Petersen Museum Renovation

The Petersen Automotive Museum on Wilshire Blvd. @Fairfax Ave is undergoing a major renovation. Shot this image from my car, of course, as I was driving home.
The new aluminum zebra striping wrap is gonna look awesome, lights will be placed behind it so the building will glow at night.
Stop by the construction site. It's amazing to watch the working piece it together like a giant puzzle.

Angelenos React to Ferguson Decision

Angelenos gathered in LA's Leimert Park to await the city of Ferguson, MO grand jury's decision on to try a Ferguson Police Officer for shooting of Michael Brown.
The grand jury decided not to try the officer for the shooting of the unarmed youth. Many Angelenos felt that the decision was racially motivated and just another form of racism against black people in America.
Hundreds of people took to the streets of LA in protest. Several roads and freeways were shut down in to the late evening.

The Wall 25 Years Later

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
A 10 segment portion of the wall is located at 5900 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles.
Met a former soldier who used to patrol the western part of the wall for the US Army. He said visiting the wall today is helping with the healing process of being stationed at Check Point Charlie back in the height of the cold war.

Omega Man on Wilshire Blvd.

Went out for a quick spin on my bicycle before the official opening of CicLAvia on Wilshire Blvd. Didn't see one soul for miles in the early morning hours, felt just like "The Omega Man."
It was actually really awesome to have the Blvd. all to myself for a bit.
Later in the day it was a bicycle traffic jamzilla from Fairfax to Grand.
