Graffiti Removal Atop The Eagle Rock

A 14 member crew from L.A.F.D. station #88 Urban Search And Rescue grind away graffiti from the Eagle Rock located in northeast L.A. The work was deemed to dangerous for regular graffiti removal crews due to the extreme terrain of the Eagle Rock. The USAR team tethered themselves with ropes, repelled down the steep face of the rock, and grinded away at the graffiti tags with hand held power tools.
Several members of the USAR have assisted at ground zero in NYC, the Katrina disaster in New Orleans, and at the mudslide at La Conchita. This is their first graffiti removal exercise.

Welcome to Tombstone, Eagle Rock

There is a new welcome to Eagle Rock sign on Colorado blvd. that resembles a concrete tombstone complete with faux oxidized paint job. Across the street from "the tombstone" is Eagle Rock's newest ghost town, a condo project that went belly up and bankrupt during construction phase. 

It is now completely abandoned and a huge eyesore for local residents. The fence around the structure was removed today, probably for unpaid rent, and will make it much easier for taggers to get to. Also will make a wonderful homeless encampment too. 

Hope "the Rock" doesn't make itself an O.K. Corral anytime soon.
