LA's iconic 6th street viaduct/bridge is now closed for public use.
Preparation for demolition work begins today. The bridge opened in 1932 and is now falling apart due to a form of "concrete cancer" which makes the bridge unstable. One of the bridges original steel loops may be preserved and kept next to the new bridge span.
