Mayor of the L.A. River

"Pepper," a homeless man who lives on the banks of the L.A. River. Met him relaxing under the 6th Street bridge which will be torn down this month and replaced with a new fancy version.
No plans or actions for building homes or real resources for the homeless are in our city's immediate plans near the bridge.
Most of L.A.'s homeless population live within a mile of the bridge site.

Bridge Kiss

Found this image in my archives.
A pair of cyclist share a kiss under L.A.'s iconic 6th Street Bridge which is scheduled to be torn down this month.
The city will replace the bridge with a newer more modern design.

For those who will miss our 6th street bridge, we still have many other nice ones in the county of Los Angeles to adore.

6th Street Bridge Set For Demolition

LA's iconic 6th street viaduct/bridge is now closed for public use.
Preparation for demolition work begins today. The bridge opened in 1932 and is now falling apart due to a form of "concrete cancer" which makes the bridge unstable. One of the bridges original steel loops may be preserved and kept next to the new bridge span.

Former Nazi Camp Murphy Ranch to be Razed

Murphy Ranch hidden deep in the hills of Will Rogers State Park is set to be demolished.
The ranch was built by Nazi sympathizers right before WW2. It was a self contained ranch with it's own garden, water supply, and power plant. It was set to become the west coast headquarters for the 3rd Reich if Germany won the war.
After the war it served as an artist camp and hideaway for the counterculture. A fire in 1978 burned most of it to the ground. A few heavy cement building survived but are now slowly crumbling away. The ranch has turned in to a nuisance for local residents as it attracts taggers, rouge partiers and illegal filming.
Local rangers ticket hikers in the ranch area for trespassing because it's generally off limits to the public.

Hotel California

The Beverly Hills Hotel which was the art for the Eagles "Hotel California" album still looks amazing after all these years.

Porter Ranch, LA's Ghost Town

The Porter Ranch area of Los Angeles is now a ghost town.
Over 2500 residents have moved out due to a massive natural gas leak at the Southern California Aliso Canyon Storage Facility.
Another 1500 residents are poised to move out soon. The leaking natural gas is a health hazard.
An estimated 77 million kilograms of methane gas have been released in to the atmosphere so far from the leak at the Aliso Canyon Storage Facility.
Residents and their pets near the site have been dealing with foul odors and nosebleeds, headaches, nausea and other ailments.

Artist Jules Muck spray paints a tribute to David Bowie who died January 10, 2015. She just finished a tribute on the same wall to Lemmy Kilmister who died two weeks earlier.
