Photojournalist Ted Soqui Added to
The Lineup of "Out In The
Street"
-Exhibition at Muzeumm in West
Adams District
(September 10, 2018/ Los Angeles,
California) The Venice Institute of Contemporary Art ViCA and Muzeumm present a
unique fine art photography exhibition Out In The Street, which focuses on a nearly 200
year tradition in art, will feature a selection of work by Ted Soqui. He is known for his insightful
and dedicated photographic coverage of Los Angeles in all it's aspects for
the LA Weekly, TIME Magazine, Newsweek Magazine,
and the New York Times Magazine to name a few - with special emphasis on
cause-based events protests and demonstrations from the 1980's to the
present. He became world renowned for a TIME Magazine cover image
of an Occupy Movement protester by Shepard Fairey. The original “Protester” image and
several protest images photographed over the last 30 years in Los Angeles,
will be exhibited.
Artists selected
for the show include the renowned Edmund Teske, Ave Pildas, Diane Cockerill, Sunny Bak and Osceola Refetoff. Out In The Street presents mages created
with a camera that address urban challenges and solutions in terms of social
issues, justice, political protest, demonstrations, geographical, and/or
philosophically creative ways of seeing what's out in the street or out of
doors - from around the world.
Curated by
Director of ViCA Juri Koll, the exhibition opens with an artist’s reception
on September 21 from 7:30 - 10pm, and continues through October 21,
2018 at Muzeumm in Los Angeles, a pre-eminent exhibition space located at
4817 W. Adams Blvd., Los Angeles, California 90016, in the burgeoning
West Adams District.
Following the
exhibition, a catalog will be published, for purchase in soft cover for
$20.
