Hidden Cash in LA

@HiddenCash also dropped some money packages in East Los Angeles, although I didn't see one person find one. The park was full of treasure seekers and the LAPD had to close off local roads around Hollenbeck Park due to the pandemonium caused by @HiddenCash.

The person known as @HiddenCash, via his Twitter handle, made his biggest drop so far.
According to @HiddenCash, he buried 36 "Angry Birds" toys stuffed with money at. He then Tweeted the basic location to his 400 thousand Followers. Thousands of people descended on to Hermosa Beach in search of the treasures. Most people found sand and sun burns. I saw one person find some money, but he may have been faking his find.

How I Made My First Selfie

I was photographing in the Yosemite National Park last month. Was crossing on a small bridge over a spring river. Stopped in the middle of the bridge and extended my arm out in front of me, manually focusing on my open hand. Took my Canon DSLR with a 16-35mm zoom lens set at 16mm, then pointed at myself. I raised it above my head and fired off a couple of photos, and voila, my first selfie.
Amazing what POV can do.

The Battle of La Brea and Third

Always like this weathervane at La Brea and Third.
The building is now home to Trader Joes. Samy's Camera was relocated there for a bit after the LA riots of '92.

Funeral Mass for LAPD Officer Roberto Sanchez

A funeral mass was held for fallen LAPD Officer Roberto Sanchez this morning at the Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral.
Officer Sanchez was killed on duty while chasing a suspect vehicle. A second suspect vehicle joined the chase and intentionally rammed Sanchez's LAPD cruiser, killing Officer Sanchez.
Officer Sanchez's partner was injured but survived the crash.

Getty House Tagged

The Getty House, the official residence for the mayor of Los Angeles, was tagged on the 6th Street side.
Noticed it on my way home this evening. A couple more Windsor Square homes, next to the Getty House, were also tagged with the same markings.

May Flowers

Looks like those April showers brought us some nice May flowers.
Early lotus blooms were spotted last week in Echo Park Lake.
The newly planted iconic lotus flowers now show up in various colors from bright pink to deep purple, and can be seen all over the lake instead of just the cove located at the north part of the lake.
