Merry Christmas
The Claus'. |
Christmastime Los Angeles style.
This home in Hancock Park featured a seasonal display of Santa and Mrs. Claus on the sleigh, with faux snow and several da Vinci's "David" statues.
The home was not popular with the other residents of Hancock Park, but was a huge tourist draw.

Thousands of fans and friends of "Fast and Furious" film star Paul Walker showed up to an informal tribute held for him and Roger Rodas. The two were killed in a solo car accident where the the tribute was held. Roger Rodas was driving his Porsche Carrera GT around an industrial park loop in Valencia, CA, he was speeding and lost control crashing in to several trees. The Porsche caught fire and burned, the two could not be saved.
Some of the cars Paul Walker drove in the film "Fast and Furious" were on site for the fans to take pictures and admire.

President Obama Motors Through LA.
President Obama's motorcade rolled through my neighborhood this morning.
I grabbed my camera and jumped on my bicycle, then made it through the Obamajam down to LA High School where four Marine choppers were waiting on the field for the president.
A small crowd of local residents waved to the president as he drove by.
The president flew off in Marine One to Glendale.

I10 T-Rex
It's nice sitting in the passenger seat sometimes. After a long week in Indian Land with my friend Dave Wyman, we came back to LA via highway I10. Had an old 5D sitting on my lap with a 70-200mm lens, was snipping off shots through the windshield throughout the ride.
This is one of the last shots on my CF card before day turned to eve.
Saw what appeared to be a T-Rex walking through a silhouette maze of palm trees and power wires, and quickly shot this image. The orange sunset sky made the image.

Fall Season in the Sierra Nevadas
The fall season is alive with color in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountain Range.
Spent a few days up there with photographer Dave Wyman and camera guru Ken Rockwell.

Manzanar
Drove by Manzanar on my way up to photograph the fall color of the Eastern Sierra Mountain Range, saw the giant guard tower and made a point of photographing it on the way back home to LA.
The tower stands directly in front of the 14,389 foot Mt Williamson, making it California's second highest and the nations's sixth highest peak.
Both appeared formidable to me, and probably to those who where imprisoned at Manzanar during the Second World War.
Got lucky as the sun broke through some hazy clouds and lit the top area of the craggy peak.

Three Wheel Motion For "Flipside"
A red lowlow throws up some three wheel motion in front of the Macedonia church where services for "Flipside" where held.
Kevin "Flipside" White 44 was slain earlier in the week in an unprovoked shooting, along with Markice Delshawn Brider 29, in Watts.
Shootings between rival gangs in Nickerson Gardens and Jordan Downs have been on a recent rise, after a major lull during the last 10 years.
"Flipside" was a founding member of Watts' first major rap label hip hop recording act, O.F.T.B. (Operation From The Bottom).

October 8th in LA
October 8th in the City of Angels marked the first 100 days in office for Mayor Garcetti, another lunch on the banks of the LA River for two homeless gentlemen, and a great day to be a dog.

Today is the 123rd anniversary of Yosemite National Park.
Here is a shot of Half Dome bathed in a reddened late afternoon light.
