FBI LAPD Gang Sweep

1300 FBI agents and LAPD officers arrested over 50 people this morning that were associated with the Five Deuce Broadway Gangster Crips. The code named operation "Gremlin Riderz," after a Crip subset, netted several hang guns and rifles along with the arrest. The gang is also facing a 112 count indictment which includes murders, robberies, extortion, witness intimidation, and narcotics trafficking.

LA Gun Buyback

What we turned in this weekend.
The city of LA's semi-annual gun buyback program. It's a no questions asked, turn in you guns for food vouchers program.
You can receive a $100 voucher for food at Ralphs's Supermarket per handgun, or $200 for an assault rifle.

Operation Sudden Impact


Operation Sudden Impact solves six cold case murders, and leads to the arrest of forty gang members and associates who operated in Montebello, CA.
A large cache of assault weapons many modified to fire fully automatically, several hand guns, and a rocket launcher was also seized by the joint task force.
Operation Sudden Impact was a multi-agency effort of the ATF, Montebello PD, LA Co. Sheriff Dept, and the CA DOC, and was a two year long investigation.

Gun Buy-Back Program

Gun buy-back program in Los Angeles press conference at LAPD headquarters.
LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck announced that 1172 guns were turned in at 4 locations in Los Angeles. Gift cards are given in trade for the no-question buyback program. $200 for assault weapons and $100 for handguns.
One pipe-bomb was also turned in, LAPD arrested the suspect who stated that god wanted him to turn in the bomb, and not to blow up the Hollywood sign anymore.

Gun Buy Back Program (2nd Update)

L.A.P.D. is now investigating the two rocket launchers turned in to the gun buy back program. Guess the no questions asked rule is out.

Two rocket launchers along with 901 handguns, 698 rifles, 363 shotguns and 75 assault weapons. Hundreds of Angeleno's lined up in their cars and on foot to turn in their guns for gift cards. The gift cards ranged from $50.00 per hand gun, up to $200.00 for assault weapons. The LAPD was in charge of taking in the weapons, and no questions were asked.
